Sickness:

I've been sick since Friday and missed three days of work so far, and feel like crap. Halfway to work on Friday I felt like the left side of my throat was swelling closed. So I turned around, called into work, and headed to the Dr. in Port St. John. They did a strep test and it came back negative, so they took blood. I had something tonsilitis, and my blood cells showed that a virus was coming, so he wrote me a prescription to help prevent it. After paying $43.99 for the prescription, I get home and have a message on my phone from the pharmacist asking me please to not take the medication, because my Dr. is a moron and didn't actually read my chart and wrote me a prescription for something I'm allergic too. Saturday morning I called the Dr. to talk to him about it and get it straightened out. I was told they would call me back. They called me back 10 minutes before closing to tell me that I never came in. Interesting. They'll call me back. No call. Sunday comes. I call again. "Is it an emergency?" "It will be if I take the prescription he gave me and I have an allergic reaction!" "I am sending out the page to him, he will call you shortly". No call. Good thing I wasn't dying. I called the hospital, and they suggested I call another pharmicist. The second pharmicist says absolutely 100% do not take that prescription. Today I'm furious. I still have no meds and have a full blown virus that could have been prevented if he didn't screw up in the first place. My mom and I go down to see him to get a new prescription and get another Dr.'s note. They tell me I'll have to come back. They'll call me when it's ready. Three hours go by...no call. I call them, and she gets bitchy with me on the phone (surprise, surprise since they did the same crap all weekend). I hang up on her after yelling at her that they've had three hours and this is ridiculous. I've been trying to reach them for 3 days!! 20 minutes later she calls and tells me the prescription is ready and so is my note. I pick up my note, give her the death stare and leave. Needless to say, I'm appalled at the lack of professionalism and care that this particular practice has for their patients. I will definitely be switching Dr.'s a.s.a.p. Now I'm taking my meds, watching a show, and preparing to write my paper that is due tomorrow.
